Vice-Chancellor’s Challenge

At the last Vice-chancellor’s Challenge back in December 2019 the HR&OD Team “Heroes Ride on Dragons”, won the much-coveted ‘Fair Play’ award. Well, the dragons are back to defend their trophy. Dragons, assemble!

If you haven’t been involved in this event before, it was set up by Christ Church Sport in 2017 as a way for teams of staff to come together and compete in a friendly way against each other in an afternoon full of unusual team sports. Over the years this has included pickleball, ultimate frisbee, sitting volleyball, kin ball and an egg and spoon race. Some teams take it very seriously (yes, Finance, I’m talking about you…) and others, like us, are in it for the laughs only. It is a brilliantly organised event and is an opportunity for even the least sporty or competitive people to enjoy time together and meet others from across the University, remembering how great social activity can be in building bonds and networks.

It matters not that the Vice-Chancellor’s Summer Challenge is, sadly, not running today as was originally planned. Instead, the Dragons have been getting into the spirit of events from the comfort of their homes. Take a sneak peek on what we have been getting up to….

Hopefully the VC’s Challenge will be back next year. And when it is, we Dragons shall be ready!
