John Clague RIBA produced a Herne Bay newsreel annually between 1935 and 1970. This clip comes from his 1964 newsreel which was shot on 16mm film. John was a keen amateur filmmaker who lived in Herne Bay but worked in Canterbury where he set up Clague Architects.
Thanks for sharing, I so wish I could watch it frame to frame as I would of been just about walking by then I should think. I’m glued to the screen looking for those I’ve now lost!

Toddlers Cove Westgate Gardens, went there as a child in the 50s, took my kids there in the 60s.
Wonderful footage. My Dads boat the “Sea Spray” is in the film. He would take people on trips to the end of the pier.
I can just see him in his white shirt. Even though he suffered with Alzheimer’s, right up until he passed away in 2015, he always talked about the “Sea Spray”
