Canterbury Amateur Film ArchiveThe precise location of this carnival is not known although it is probably either Whitstable or Herne Bay. The film was shot by Sidney Elsey in the 1960s. Sidney lived in Swalecliffe and worked at the George Fitts Motors Garage in Tankerton. He made amateur films, mainly records of family life, between 1966 and 1976.

That’s Tankerton, so that would be Whitstable Carnival.
Defiantly junction Wynn Road with Tankerton Road, Whitstable. MacGregor newsagents just down from there.
Starts with procession going past Celandine hairdressers which was run by my friends Mum Netta Stone just past the corner of Wynn Road which makes it Whitstable Carnival
I think this is later…1970…BECAUSE I remember the beagles at the whitty carnival twix regatta
