There’s a video of X-Ray Spex performing Identity that sticks in my mind. The video is live footage, and described on YouTube as 1978 Revolver Out-Take. The first time I saw it I was watching it on my new smartphone while visiting my mother. I knew the song from an album I had in the 90s and always liked it because I thought the lyrics were Identity, it’s a great big crock of shi’… (well you can guess the rest).
I wanted to say thank you, too. I have been told many times to think about sharing my work – Particularly thinking about the professions I may consider working in, in the future, and how this may be affected. However, it prompted me to research further into professionals who share their personal thoughts via various art mediums, and platforms such as books, television and social media, to break stigma, and show that mental health does not discriminate. It made me think about those who raise awareness on social media, and I questioned why I was being told to be careful with what I share.
In very crude geological terms Diamonds and jewels are formed deep down underground and under intense pressure. These elements and conditions form something beautiful rare and coveted.
Poetry from the heart…
Imagine for a second being alone in the world, not this world as it is now of chaos and opposition, solution and love. More a time of survival. You are a species unaware if you are the only one of your kind. Making choices each day that seem so right but almost counterintuitive choices driven from quiet contemplation and notes formed from the heart strings. You have no tribe, no family each day is a hope and a love punctuated by challenge and fear. In desperation at night you sit in a place backed by a cave and you call. Amazed by the resonance echo but also in hope of a reply.
So, like a rising tide of awareness unlearnt I am becoming aware. But it’s driven up from an internal and external consciousness. That liminal gap or finite and infinite place of refining and evolving.
It’s untapped by most and it is unplumbable. Its depth is Infinite.
I am connected to the idea of the #hive as the #bees 🐝 are a perfect example to us. But would we ever listen to the wing beat of a better way. They work as one body.
Although hideously disillusioned and very pessimistic, I am in fact the happiest and at my most honest to myself I have ever been. Freudian theory is storming back in. I would however like to place all philosophical theories into a sphere of consideration and no more. I had a clear vision where all philosophy was a child’s constructed sand castle sat on the shoreline of an incoming tide.
#CCCUPIL20 crowd sourced poem
So, there I sit waiting to be introduced. Thinking, what can I possibly say to this room of academics and students? What value is there in my role @CCCU and innovation within the butterfly flame?
On the dawn of the new year and the plans and hopes ahead. Thomas Delahunt reflects and asks the community of butterflies to respond. Using the poem “draw away to see”, the community is asked to give back a reflection on their present feelings. This will then allow for a poem to be constructed from these voices, images and words.
On the dawn of THEawards Francesca Hufton reflects on her very first symposium. She understands, engages and reflects the ethos of the butterfly flame beautifully. I adore how this small organic community continues to grow.
