I’m looking forward to some fascinating talks and conferences that the Centre is involved in over the next few months. The first of these is Martin Watts’s lecture in Canterbury on Saturday 29 November at 3pm, the St Gregory’s Centre, where he will be discussing the Great War memorial from St Gregory’s church. The war memorial lists the names of lots of local men and also the name of a woman – very unusual. Hopefully this will be the start of an even more detailed exploration of the lives of these men in the years before the War – their backgrounds, families and also how they came to be listed here.
