Rather than a ‘normal’ blog this week, please see this offer from English Heritage, one of CCCU’s fellow organisations on Canterbury’s World Heritage Site:
St Augustine’s Abbey (Longport, Canterbury, CT1 1PF) is offering ticket-holders for the Tudors and Stuarts Weekend a 25% discount on standard admission charges on 26 and 27 April 2025. Founded in AD 598 by St Augustine himself, this once-great abbey saw the rebirth of Christianity in southern England and was magnificently rebuilt by the Normans before becoming a Tudor royal palace at the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Today, visitors can explore the impressive ruins, museum, and audio tour at their own pace. To receive the discount, simply present a valid Tudors and Stuarts event ticket when purchasing admission at the Abbey. Children under 5 go free. Please check the English Heritage website for full opening times and ticket prices. Website: https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/st-augustines-abbey/

Because the Centre’s web designer is on leave, we have no way of adding this to the CKHH website except in the blog and time is short! So please do check out our great speakers at the Tudors and Stuarts 2025 History Weekend: https://ckhh.org.uk/tudors-stuarts and also take advantage of this chance to visit St Augustine’s Abbey.
Good Morning,
Being an extremely curious individual, I was hoping the presentations would be available via live feed.
If not, is there a section where the lectures will be printed.
Kind Regards,
Megan Allen

Sorry Megan, I’m afraid the IT facilities are not good enough for this and as some of the papers relate to work in progress, we have never published any of these proceedings. Once I have time, there will be a section on the website providing a legacy of the Weekend, but after 2023, I decided to go back to just being in person. However, many of the speakers have written books and articles which you should be able to track down.
