Recruitment Success for Engineering at CCCU

Canterbury Christ Church University are excited to welcome 52 students onto their new Engineering programmes for the 2019/20 academic year.

The university is extremely honoured to have been chosen, and entrusted by these students to further their career goals within a variety of Engineering subject specialisms. The Engineering Foundation Year included 40 students which reflects our commitment to widening participation in higher education.

With 52 students, where 33% are female and 29% BAME, the university recognises their responsibility to ensure a fair and rewarding education for all and the need to provide real opportunities to enable graduates to enter the workplace as professionals. This requires collaboration with local industry who are currently facing skills shortages in Engineering.

EDGE Hub is ensuring that the university and its curriculum aligns with the needs of regional industries, and their specific requirements, by co-designing courses and working in partnership on key challenges through incubator projects, and research and consultancy services. This approach is evidenced through academics who specialise in a problem-based learning approach which has already enabled students to gain hands-on experience, preparing them to work on real-world projects on behalf of regional business.
