Have You Ever Considered a Career in Further Education? – Paid Placements Available!

Have you ever considered a career in Further Education? Whether it’s something you’ve thought about for a while, or something you’ve recently considered, we are offering you the opportunity to gain invaluable experience with paid placement opportunities in FE colleges across Kent.

Further Education (FE) includes general FE colleges, sixth form colleges and independent training providers. FE colleges can be one of the largest employers in their local area. It is a diverse and passionate sector with a wide range of employment opportunities. FE covers both vocational (including apprenticeships) and academic (A-levels and GCSEs) courses. It provides young people and adults with the skills required to gain employment or secure a place at university.

Are you passionate about what you do? If the answer is yes, then why not share that passion?

We are excited to be able to offer this unique opportunity for a paid placement in the FE sector. This placement would be in a teaching related role and is open to final year undergraduates. The project is funded by the Education and Training Foundation.

How does it work?

Calling final year students: undergraduate and postgraduate included! Through an application and interview process, you will have the opportunity to tell us about yourself, your skills and knowledge and your area of specialism. If successful, you will be matched with a college: Hadlow College (Hadlow, Tonbridge, Ashford); North Kent College (Dartford, Gravesend); or East Kent College (Broadstairs, Canterbury).

All successful students will be paid! £350 for 40 hours. These hours can be completed flexibly to fit around classes, exams and other commitments from January-March 2018. You will be paid £175 at the start of the placement and a further £175 on completion of the placement. The placement will include a range of activities and experiences such as an induction to the college, assisting with teaching, attending meetings, planning lessons, and more, giving you a real flavour of working in FE. The college will provide a dedicated link person to support you throughout the project.

What are the benefits?

– Opportunity to obtain the skills and knowledge you will need to pursue a career in FE
– Opportunity to increase your employability skills and add valuable work experience to your CV
– A paid placement (£350 for the 40 hours)
