Herne Bay in the late 1960s

The film was shot by Sidney Elsey in the 1960s. Sidney lived in Swalecliffe and worked at the George Fitts Motors Garage in Tankerton. He made amateur films, mainly records of family life, between 1966 and 1976.

  1. If I am not mistaken i think that is the Guinness clock in action, positioned by the Herne Bay pier, back in about 1967.

  2. Can’t see the clock. I’m sure it always used to be to the left of the pier- just where the camera stops scanning and cuts to the children
