The English Scandinavian Summer School took place at Milner Court in Sturry. This was an annual course for women gym teachers from around the world to learn about the scandinavian method for teaching PE. This film was shot in 1936 by Sydney Bligh who was a keen amateur filmmaker, producing a 90 minute newsreel each year between 1934 and 1939. He was an electrical engineer from Canterbury.
The Scandinavian Summer Schools were set up by Gladys Wright, the first took place in Herne Bay 1923. Gladys went on to found Nonington College, just south of Canterbury.
