This unique sequence featuring T.S. Eliot was filmed by Sydney Bligh in June 1935. It shows the actors from ‘Murder in the Cathedral’ in full costume parading for the camera. This was the first time that the play had been performed publicly.
Sydney Bligh owned S.W. Bligh, a radio shop on North Lane. He was a keen amateur filmmaker who went onto produce an annual Canterbury newsreel between 1934 to 1939.
