Going home during reading week and need a place to study? Or are you coming home to Canterbury and you want to use our library?
Here is everything you need to know about SCONUL…
What is SCONUL?
SCONUL is a scheme used by most universities within the UK. It allows you to use other university library’s when you are not near your own. For example, you might want to sign up for the scheme if you are visiting a friend, or you are home for the holidays.
How do you apply for SCONUL?
SCONUL membership is a two-step process.
You first have to register with the scheme, which you can do here.
Secondly, you have to apply for a membership at the university library you wish to use.

What to do if you are a CCCU student:
For Canterbury Christ Church University or KMMS students, wanting to apply for access to other universities libraries:
Once you have registered for SCONUL, and have been accepted, you should visit the library website of the institution you wish to access.
This is because you might have to fill out a secondary membership form specific to that University library in order to use it.
Once you have filled out this secondary form and been accepted, you will most likely have to bring some ID in order to pick up your ID card from your chosen library, and then you will be able to use their facility.
If you are a KMMS student, when registering for SCONUL please select University of Kent as your home institution rather than CCCU. This is because we do not have access to the information required to process these requests for you.
What to do if you are NOT a CCCU student:
Once you have registered for SCONUL, and have been accepted, you will have to fill out our membership form here.
Once you have filled out this form you will be emailed asking to book a date to collect your card.
On your chosen date you will come to the Library Point with your ID and proof of address, and you will be able to pick up your card and use our library!
