All our workshops are now online, but remain free, and just for you as CCCU students and recent Alumni (within 3 years of graduation). Do come and join us as we journey through different areas of employability, and keep an eye on our social media, as there’ll be more blogs, videos, and other ways to connect with us. We look forward to coming to a screen near you!

An interview with Michael Olatokun, Founder of SkillStruct – Monday 12th October, 2-3pm
Join Michael as he dives into what is key in setting up your own business,  being black in the Tech industry, an insight into SkillStruct and how you can get involved!

Beginning Your Business – Tuesday 27th October, 2-3pm
The wonderful Rowan from the Kent Foundation is ready to talk to you this National Mentoring Day. If you’re thinking of stepping out with big ideas you want to explore, or already have a formed business idea you’re wanting to start up, this online workshop is a must. The Kent Foundation is a place for ambitious young business owners of Kent to receive business mentoring support, develop their business ideas and get the support to turn them into a reality and boost the economy of Kent through business creation, business start-up and business growth. Come and meet Rowan virtually, and hear more about what you can do to turn your ideas into a successful business! (We’ll also release a short clip from Karl Cowell about why you should get involved with business mentoring, so keep an eye on our social media!)

Money Talks: Banking 101 – Thursday 5th November, 1-2pm
A webinar designed for students in their first year of University, but anyone is welcome! It’ll be;
• An exploration into the world of finance to develop everyday life skills in money management. The session focuses on how bank accounts work, ways to pay for things and the importance of saving for your future.
• Understand the different banking jargon
• Understanding money basics
• The importance of budgeting and saving
• Understand your credit report
• What does a payslip look like
• What to do if your outgoings are higher than your income
• Ways to save
HSBC are also offering free online confidential financial health checks this day, so if you’re interested, do look at the Eventbrite details for more information.

The Mystery of Shortlisting – Tuesday 17th November, 1-2pm
Come and join our online workshop, where I’ll be grilling Sophie Chadwick, Director of Enterprise and Employability, and Toby Lucas-Smith, Unitemps Branch Manager at CCCU. I’ll be asking them about their personal experiences of good, bad and embarrassing application and interview processes, and will be inviting them to share tips with you about what they love and hate to see when they’re shortlisting. This workshop will be valuable for you now, and in the future, so enjoy it from the comfort of your home with a cuppa, and learn how you could make your application stand out…

Targeting Your CV – Tuesday 8th December, 12-1pm
Our Careers Advisor, John, will be facilitating this session. He’ll be giving advice and guidance on targeting your CV to the job/further study opportunity you are applying for. He’ll tell you about CV360, and other ways you can quickly and easily make a difference to your CV.

Microsoft Specialist Workshops – (a range of dates and times)
These are run in partnership with our IT training team, and are available in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. The workshops are great training to understand the software better, but also prepares you to take an exam if you choose to, that you can then put on your CV. If you pass 3 of the exams, you can call yourself a Microsoft Specialist Associate!
We’re now also giving you the chance to be an EXPERT. Once you’ve completed 3 exams above, and you’re a Specialist Associate, you’re welcome to book on to our two new Expert sessions – Word and Excel, and take your knowledge and skills to the next level!
