CCCU News from The CORE – What’s Happening Next Week

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day! Celebrated by individuals, groups and organisations across the world, today is a day where you could potentially make someone’s day, or even change someone’s outlook on life.

Have you observed, received or thought of a fantastic random act of kindness you’d like to share? Head over People United’s Kindness Calendar to share your ideas, and gain inspiration from others! You can also follow the hashtag #randomactsofkindnessday on Twitter today to see what others have been up to.

Of course, acts of kindness don’t need to be limited to just one day. Volunteering is another way you can consciously help to make others happy, in various ways!

Student Volunteering Week

Next week just happens to be Student Volunteering Week, a week dedicated to celebrating student volunteering and encouraging non-volunteers to get involved.

If you aren’t already volunteering and you’re interested, or even if you are and you want to find out about more opportunities, make sure you pop along to Augustine House on Wednesday 22nd February for the Volunteering FAIR. Here you will have the opportunity to speak with local charities and organisations. Details of the event can be found on the Facebook event HERE.

Also make sure to register on the volunteering website at canterburyvolunteering.org.uk

To round off Student Volunteering Week, the Volunteering team are also collaborating with arts charity, People United, CCSU (Christ Church SU) and Kent Union to deliver an event in Canterbury City Centre on Saturday 25th February, to celebrate student volunteering and to spread some positivity.

If you’d like to get involved in the organisation/running of either or both of these events visit canterburyvolunteering.org.uk or email volunteer@canterbury.ac.uk

The Winning Question – Asking Questions at Interview

Have you ever gone into an interview prepared with a bunch of questions but, thanks to a great interview and an informative panel, you’ve not been able to ask them? If you have, you understand the pain of trying to think up an acceptable, insightful question to wow your interviewers.

Fear not! We have found an amazing post from Graduate to Employment. Here, Michael Sherman succinctly summarises the killer last question you should ask in an interview situation.

“Based on our time together today, is there anything else I can answer that will help you determine if I’m a strong fit for your opportunity? Lastly, I want to reiterate how interested I am in joining your team.”
