We are pleased to finally be able to announce the winners of our Go Green Week Photography Contest!
For Meat-Free Monday our category was ‘Animals, Bugs or Birds’. We had a lot of entries for this day, more than for any other, but our winner for the day was Helena Daly with ‘Swans at Stodmarsh’.
For Travel-Light Tuesday our category was ‘The world in motion’ and our winner of the day was Gordon Stewart with ‘India’.
For Waste-Not Wednesday our category was ‘Good foods’ and our winner of the day was Madalina Diana with her photograph of a vegetable market (and marketeer). This photograph was also chosen as our winner of the week!
For Switch-Off Thursday our category was ‘Light and darkness’ and our winner of the day was Peter Beeley with ‘Sunset’.
For Feel-Good Friday our category was ‘The town you’re living in’ and our winner of the day was David Carr with ‘Ramsgate’.
We also wanted to give runner-up prizes to the following: David Kinally for two photographs, of donkeys and of a first frost; Claire Kennett for her photograph of a bee ‘beeing green’, Sharon Quy-Verlander for her photograph of a jellyfish, and Madalina Diana’s photograph of light filtering into a dilapidated building, titled ‘the other perspective’ (see below).
Please note that all photographs displayed here are the copyright of the photographers themselves, and should not be copied or reproduced in whole or in part without the photographers’ permission.
Can I just say a huge thank you to everyone who took part. We had over sixty entries and lots of wonderful photographs to choose from. Some even came with stories which was especially lovely.
We’ll be presenting each of the prize winners with a mounted copy of their winning photograph(s) and a certificate, and their choice of a selection of prizes, including eco-gadgets, potted plants, films and books at our Sustainability Showcase on the 25th of April, which is running from 4.30 – 6pm (room tba).
We’ll be providing wine and soft drinks and some nibbles, and will set up a number of displays for the various sustainability projects that have been running around the university, and will have a table set up where we hope to display all the photographs that were entered into the competition, and all the certificates and prizes for collection.
