CCCU Network for Politics Teachers

On 7 July 2014 teachers from across the South East of England attended a specialist workshop addressing how Politics and IR are taught at schools and universities.

The workshop allowed for plenty of discussion of the challenges we all face teaching a subject which is highly contested and constantly changing. Participants shared some of their most successful classroom activities and ideas were explored for future events which would support teachers in finding innovative ways to further their professional development and improve their delivery of the politics A Level curriculum. The workshop also included presentations from Parliament’s Education Service and from the Teaching and Learning Academy. Feedback from participants was extremely positive.

Following the workshop, the CCCU Network for Politics Teachers was set up to provide a virtual community for teachers and lecturers to interact, share ideas and resources and maintain links between workshop participants. More events are planned for the coming year and we hope that as the network expands it will facilitate the sharing of best practice to enhance how politics is taught to the next generation of students.
