There was a full-house in Old Sessions House for a superb presentation from Dr. Erin Baumann, Lecturer in Politics at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University College Dublin.  Eschewing detailed notes on her Power Point slides, Dr. Baumann focused instead on a series of maps detailing the history, ethno-linguistic and socio-economic background of Ukraine.

Such an innovative approach was deeply appreciated by the gathered students and staff from across the University and an excellent question and answer session followed.

Dr. Baumann has been in the media almost daily in Ireland due to her clear and incisive analysis of the current political tensions in Ukraine.  Canterbury staff and students were left in no doubt as to her skills in this regard after a wonderfully informative night.
