We love to hear from everyone who makes use of the library to help us find ways to improve. Throughout the year we provide you the opportunity to feedback to us. You may have taken part in some of our feedback activities last year. You may have written us a letter on Valentine’s Day, attended a Shape Our Library event or visited our weeklong “Write our next chapter” stand in April.
Early next year students will get a chance to feedback to the University in the NSS, PTES and PRES student surveys. That feedback is really important to us and it drives real change, so if you get a chance to feedback through one of those surveys, please make sure you do.
You can also provide feedback about the library at any time via our feedback form.
In this second part of a three-part series, we’re looking at the feedback we’ve received about the support we provide. Don’t forget to check the previous part:
We’ve heard you – Improving access to library resources
Guidance for using generative AI
We’ve put together a guide on how you can use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) at CCCU and what restrictions the University has put on its use. The guide will show you how to use GenAI tools effectively, ethically and responsibly.
If you are unfamiliar with the language of GenAI, we’ve provided a glossary in the FAQ. There you will find definitions of key terms such as ‘generative artificial intelligence’, ‘ethics’ and ‘prompts’.
The guide is available on the current student webpages.
Improved support for Open Access publishing
We have extended the range of academic publishers that we have transformative agreements with, enabling our authors to publish more open access articles.
- Springer Read and Publish agreement – unlimited publishing in 2,062 journals
- Oxford University Press Read and Publish agreement: OA publishing in 484 hybrid and full OA journals
- BMJ article processing charge extended to unfunded research

Supporting you when you leave CCCU with improved alumni membership
We’ve improved our library membership for alumni. Becoming an alumni member of the library is now always free and you can now have access to the library for the same opening hours as when you were a student. Find out more.
Libby app is now available for your leisure reads, audiobooks, magazine subscriptions and more
Many students have asked us to provide more leisure reading, from fiction to graphic novels. We’ve expanded the resources available via the Libby to provide a range of e-books, graphic novels, audiobooks and magazines. We’ve even added free subscriptions to iNDIEFLIX and Qello Concerts through the app.
New resources in the Stressless area
You asked for a wider range of resources in the Stressless area and over the summer some new games, puzzles and other resources have arrived. Take a look at a selection of what’s new in the Stressless area below:

A better booking system at the Drill Hall library
The Drill Hall library team has implemented a new booking system for the most sought-after study spaces. You can now book ‘The Pod’, Family study spaces, group tables and sofa booths online.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this look at the new ways we’re looking to support you during your time at CCCU. Come back next week when we’ll be taking a look at the improvements made to the study environment in Augustine House.
