The Open Access Policy for REF2029 has been published on the REF website.

It includes some changes from the REF2021 Open Access Policy, but there will be no requirement for long-form publications to be made open access.

The REF2029 Open Access Policy requirements will not come into force until 1 January 2026. The REF2021 Open Access Policy requirements, that articles and conference proceedings published with an ISSN must be made open access within three months of acceptance for publication, will remain in place until then.
