Israel/Palestine: A never ending conflict? – Annual ERIS lecture on 4 November

The Canterbury Christ Church University’s Politics and International Relations team has invited Professor Alain Dieckhoff to take this year’s European Review of International Studies (ERIS) Lecture on 4 November at 6pm.

Professor Dieckhoff is the Director of Centre for International Studies and Research (CERI) at Sciences-Po and will discuss the evolution of the conflict and the development of Israeli and Jewish nationalism in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The lecture, entitled ‘Israel/Palestine: a never ending conflict?’, is based on his extensive research on modern Israel, nationalism and the Israeli-Palestinian relations. He will highlight the different dimensions of the conflict, the different perspectives of the parties involved, and the role of external actors.

Dr David Bates, Director of Politics and International Relations at Canterbury Christ Church University, said: “We are delighted to welcome one of France’s leading academics to the University. Our programme of events does not shy away from discussing challenging issues, and there are few topics more challenging than the focus of Professor Dieckoff’s talk.”

The European Review of International Studies (ERIS) is an international journal, established in 2013, to promote an understanding of European contributions to the subject of International Relations. The journal was set as a result of a partnership between Politics and International Relations at Christ Church University and the Centre for International Studies and Research at Sciences-Po in Paris.

Professor Dieckhoff’s lecture will take place in the Old Sessions House Building on the North Holmes Campus and refreshments will be available from 6pm.

The event is free and open to the public.
