The first Making Politics Matter event of the year held by the Politics programme was a roundtable discussion on the wider consequences of the German Federal election. Contributors were Mr Dieter Birkenmeier, European Commission Dr Kai Oppermann, University of Sussex and Dr Soeren Keil, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at CCCU. The panel was chaired by Dr Amelia Hadfield. The discussion ranged between how the outside world viewed the elections, the failure of minority parties, to the Presidential nature of the campaign. There was a great attendance by Canterbury Politics students who provided much incisive questioning for the presenters.
