Celebrating talent: Film Production students shine at Royal Television Society Southern Student Awards 2024

On Friday 17 May, our Film Production students attended the Royal Television Society Southern Student Awards 2024 at the Utilita Bowl Hilton in Southampton. This event brought together media professionals from the South, including representatives from the BBC and ITV, to celebrate student projects and local media.

Our students were thrilled to be nominated in the Drama category for their film Tellyhead. The nomination was a testament to their talent and hard work. They were thrilled to show clips of Tellyhead, which received a positive response from the audience.

An interesting approach to the subject of difference that links into the idea of screens as a barrier and maybe a protection as well. This film encompasses gritty realism, humour and poignancy all in one with production values that match the mood. It has depth and pathos, and can perhaps be seen as a metaphor for many young people today. A thought-provoking watch.

Attending the awards provided an invaluable experience, offering our students exposure to the wider media landscape and the opportunity to connect with industry professionals.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and excited to see where their filmmaking journey will take them next. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners at the RTS Southern Student Awards 2024
