Treasure Trail for Endangered animals, Help others by helping yourself.

The Student Green Office at CCCU has organised a treasure trail to take place between the 13th-17th March (last week of term), to raise awareness of endangered species. This fun hunt will have you exploring campus and discovering some beautiful green spots you may have passed by unawares. We are super excited at Move More, as some great prizes will be on offer too! Here’s the Facebook event to get more information.

So that leads me to the question, how else can we use our feet for a good cause? There are so many walks, runs, park-runs, biking, swimming and countless other ways to raise money for causes you care about. At the same time, you are helping your health, body and mind by getting active. You can use http://runforcharity.com/ to find charities and events, with over 400 UK charities to choose from, you can pick a cause close to your heart.

It may seems daunting if you are not currently very active, but there is so much support available, not to mention the motivation of fundraising for a charity. Here’s one training plan for running a marathon. Starting on week 1 with a 1 mile run, and by Week 18 you’ll be doing a 18 mile easy run. So what are you waiting for? There are fundraising events happening throughout the year at different levels so you can choose an event to suit you and take the first step to helping others by helping yourself.

Here’s some inspiration stories for you:

It doesn’t have to be  massive fun run race, you can get friends and family to sponsor you to walk 10,000 steps a day, as the ‘Walk in her Shoes’ Campaign suggests.

If you are moving for a good cause, and are a student or staff member at CCCU we would love to hear your story. Blogging can be a great way to encourage others to join you and get more people moving more.
