I started training at Braintree athletics club when I was 14 years old purely because my twin brother wanted to start – he had been spotted as a real talent for long jump. I thought I would try middle distance training and immediately fell in love with the sport.
When I was 16 years old I decided to focus on the 400m as I had good speed in the 800m but not the endurance. I also started triple jump in my brothers training group. After Just three months of training at 400m, I took 5 seconds off my personal best. In my first ever major championships, I went on to win gold by over a second. This is when I was spotted for the Essex team. In the 2014 and 2015 season, I competed for Essex several times and took the County Championships gold a few times in the triple jump. I took the East of England gold at the start of 2015.
The 2016 season is just round the corner and I face the new challenge of being selected for the British League which is a big step up for a 19-year-old. Training 6 days a week is hard but essential and enjoyable!
