An alternative to the daily walk

It’s been a while since I last posted a blog article and this time I wanted to provide an alternative that has helped enhanced my daily walk.

I have found an app/game that I can play whilst walking around. Now this game can be involved, or simple, so use it to the level that you want. You get to follow missions via waypoints that are real-life points of interest. What this has done for me is not only allow me to exercise more and enjoy it more, but to search out and learn more about the areas I am walking in. I have used this app in Canterbury and in doing so have found a lot of little points of interest that I may not have been aware of if I hadn’t used the app.

So what is the app?

It is called Ingress and it is free. You do need a smartphone with data and GPS facility, but it is fun and has a worldwide following. If you do decide to have a go with the app to increase your activity levels, then look me up. I am on the side of the Resistance and my name is OilyWadd
A little word of warning though, this can be addictive and time just disappears, as do the miles 🙂

Have fun, and may your life be positive and fulfilling.
