Canterbury Christ Church University along with colleagues at the University of Kent and the University of Greenwich will be hosting the first Kent and Medway Hydrogen Summit in Medway on the afternoon of the 24th November 2021.
This collaborative event, taking place on the Medway campus, is an opportunity for business and industry leaders to come together to accelerate and innovate the hydrogen economy in the East of England and beyond.
Abbie Kempe, Head of Enterprise and Engagement here at Canterbury Christ Church University said:
“At the University, we care deeply about sustainability and providing a greener future for a new generation of skills supporting regional growth. Our international awards recognise our impact in building sustainable futures through innovative research, education and environmental stewardship.”
The aim of the hydrogen summit on the 24th November is threefold:
- to hear about hydrogen from those that know it. What is their experience so far? What do those with knowledge expect for the future? This will include manufacturers of hydrogen, infrastructure providers and planners with national and international perspectives
- to describe the role of research and innovation in facilitating and accelerating the development of a sustainable hydrogen economy. The ambition of higher education to exploit the Kent and Medway’s advantages to benefit the society, environment and economy by collaborating with business, investors and communities
- to understand from the community of Kent and Medway what the unanswered questions for hydrogen are, where are the gaps in your knowledge; what skills do you require for future growth; and how do we close these and keep you informed?
The output from the summit will be the start of a pathway for Kent and Medway, to ensure that all three Universities involved can complement and build on funding and investment opportunities.
The free event will take place from 1 – 4:30pm on Wednesday 24 November at The Dockyard Church and Meeting Rooms, Chatham. Please get in touch by emailing abbie.kempe@canterbury.ac.uk to express your interest in attending.
