New exhibition: Caged Birds and Kingfishers

Photographer Miranda Hutton shares two significant portfolios exploring themes of loss, place and preservation in the Verena Holmes gallery.


Miranda Hutton’s latest exhibition is now up and running: Her portfolio “They Sing Because They Have a Song” explores aspects of expectation, confinement and preservation within the domestic realm. This grew out of a previous project, “Searching for the Kingfisher“, which delves into the multifaceted aspects
of loss and endings, a project which was set in motion following the death of her father.


And the following events are coming up to support the show:

Artist talk and Private View in the Verena Holmes Gallery and adjoining Lecture Theatre

Talk: Wednesday 20 March: 4.30pm – 5.30pm

Private view: Wednesday 20 March: 5.30pm – 7.30pm

Verena Holmes Gallery, ground floor, Verena Holmes building, North Holmes Road campus, CT1 1QB

The Michael Wright Lecture Theatre is next to the gallery.
