The University Academic Misconduct Procedures only requires word-processed files to be submitted to Turnitin for Similarity checking. In order for Turnitin to be able to check for similarity, the format of the file must be one of the following:
Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX), PDF, PostScript, Text, HTML, WordPerfect (WPD), OpenOffice (ODT), Rich Text Format and Hangul (HWP) and meets the listed requirements:
- Is a single file upload
- The file is less than 100MB
- Has at least 20 words of text
- Does not exceed 400 pages
Some other file types are accepted by Turnitin; however, it cannot always perform a similarity check on these, and the defaulted ‘compare against’ options need to be de-selected for the student to be able to submit successfully.
