FINAL Turnitin Assignment set-up in Blackboard Ultra
AFTER DEADLINE Turnitin Assignment set-up in Blackboard Ultra
- If not already present add a new Folder to your Blackboard named ‘Assessments’.

2. Within the Assessments folder create separate folders labelled;
- DRAFT Submissions
- Assessment 1 – followed by name of Assignment
- Assessment 2 – followed by name of Assignment (if required)
- Reassessment (if required)
- Take-Home Exam – *Date* (if required)
Depending on the number of parts that are being assessed in the module depends on the number of Assessment folders that will need to be created. If you are unsure on how to create folders in Blackboard please see Create a Folder in Blackboard guidance.
3. Once the folders have been created, open each in turn to add the Turnitin Assignment(s)

Select Content Market then select Turnitin

4. Complete the necessary fields: (see below for further guidance)

DRAFT Set-Up
Title: DRAFT.
Instructions: add any additional instructions such as Tutor or Admin contact email.
Max Grade: 0
Start Date: Opens from point first assessment brief is given to students.
Due Date: Point at which last assessment is submitted for this module including reassessment.
Feedback Release Date: 1 day after the above Due Date.
DRAFT for FORMATIVE Feedback
Title: Assignment for Formative Feedback.
Instructions: Amend the instructions to inform students that this submission point is for Formative Feedback on their DRAFT Assignment.
Max Grade: 0
Start Date: Opens from point first assessment brief is given to students.
Due Date: Point at which the Formative Assessment in due.
Feedback Release Date: Unlike other DRAFT Turnitin Assignments, this must be set after the Due Date even though no feedback release will be required.
FINAL Set-Up
Title: FINAL – followed by the assessment name.
Instructions: Submit your FINAL submission here for this assessment. For assessment issues, contact the Course Administration Team. For technical issues, contact: i-zone@canterbury.ac.uk.
Max Grade: Usually 100.
Start Date: This should be at least 2 weeks before the Due Date.
Due Date: The date the assessment is due, and time should be set at 14:00hrs.
Feedback Release Date: The date that feedback and marks are released back to the students, usually 15 working days / 3 weeks.
FINAL Set-Up with Anonymous Marking
Title: FINAL – followed by the assessment name.
Instructions: Submit your FINAL submission here for this assessment. Your work will be marked anonymously. Make sure you include your Student ID in the Turnitin Submission Title box. Similarity Reports will be available once the due date / deadline has been reached. Please make sure that you submit the correct file – if you submit the wrong one you can overwrite it by clicking back into this assessment and choosing the option to ‘Resubmit’. For assessment issues, contact the Course Administration Team. For technical issues, contact: i-zone@canterbury.ac.uk.
Max Grade: Usually 100.
Start Date: This should be at least 2 weeks before the Due Date.

Instructions: Submit your FINAL submission here for this EXAM. Please make sure that you submit the correct file – if you submit the wrong one you can overwrite it by clicking back into this exam and choosing the option to ‘Resubmit’. Submit papers to: Standard paper repository.
Submission Settings

Allow submission of any file type
Select this option if the assessment is a non essay / text submission, e.g. for poster or PowerPoint presentations. This does not include media files. Media or Audio files should be submitted to a Blackboard Assignment via ReCap.
Allow late submissions
This should not be selected for either DRAFT, FINAL or Take-Home Exam set-ups but does need to be selected for DRAFT FORMATIVE Feedback and AFTER DEADLINE set-up.
Enable anonymous marking
Select if this assessment is being marked anonymously.
Attach Rubric

To attach a Rubric to either your FINAL, AFTERDEADLINE, or Take-Home Exam Assignments, select the check box next to Attach a rubric, then select the drop-down arrow from the box to select a Rubric that exists in your personal Turnitin Rubric Library.
If the Rubric does not appear in the drop-down list, you can upload one via the Launch Rubric Manager link. Please see additional instructions and guidance under Turnitin Rubric and Grading Forms.
Compare Against

Select each check box to generate a similarity report for submissions. If no Similarity report is necessary (e.g. Poster Presentation) then these fields should be unchecked.
Similarity Report

DRAFT and DRAFT for FORMATIVE Feedback
Generate reports immediately (students can resubmit until due date).
FINAL Set-Up with or without Anonymous Marking and Take-Home Exam
Generate reports on due date (students can resubmit until due date).
AFTER DEADLINE Set-Up with or without Anonymous Marking
Generate reports immediately (students cannot resubmit).

Allow students to view Similarity Reports: this should be selected for all set-ups that are generating a similarity report, i.e. where each check box has been selected under ‘Compare Against’.
Exclude bibliographic materials: should be unchecked.
Exclude quoted materials: should be unchecked.
Exclude small sources: should be unchecked.
Exclusions can be selected later by the marker via Feedback Studio.
Exclude Assignment Template
Please ignore this section.

Additional Settings

Select to save these settings if you are creating the same type of assignment e.g. all DRAFT or all FINAL or all AFTER DEADLINE.
Finally select Submit.

If you have created this Turnitin Assignment in an Original Blackboard, please ensure you return to How to set-up a Turnitin Assignment in Blackboard Original to complete the additional steps which ensures the assignment is accessible to students and students do not have early visibility of their marks.
