Workshop Name – MENTIMETER: AN INTRODUCTION Introducing you to the different types of questions that can be built to stimulate interaction through a ‘fun factor’. The anonymity may encourage engagement particularly from students who are less confident.
Scheduled sessions are bookable via StaffSpace
In addition Mentimeter have developed their own self-directed: Getting Started with Mentimeter ‘Beginner’s Course’ – however, you will need to enroll yourself so that you can download your personalised certificate at the end of the course. The course covers both presenter and voter aspects of the tool.
Available below is a template slide that you are welcome to download and add to your presentations to help direct students in how to access Mentimeter for polling in-class. Simply replace the code (in this example 00 00 00) with the unique one for your Mentimeter presentation.
The University has an institutional licence for Mentimeter which allows all staff and students to create an institutional account with their CCCU email address, username, and password. Accounts created in this way allow users to access all free and premium content! Make sure to create your account by following the guidance below to see how to create an account in this way (page 1) rather than creating one of their standard accounts which are very limiting and do not contain all available features, and what to do if you need to copy Mentimeter questions / presentations created from an earlier personal account into your CCCU one (page 2).
Important Note: Once your account has been created, do not change your email address away from your CCCU account. This may break your account and result in lost Mentimeter questions / presentations that may become unrecoverable.
Mentimeter is a web-based classroom response system (CRS) which allows you to create questions in advance. These questions can then be displayed on the main screen to your learners in a session. Learners respond anonymously by entering an 8-digit code into a simple web site on their phone or any internet-connected device. Mentimeter then collates learners’ responses which you can choose to show on the main screen.
