A new improved way to borrowing books and other resources
The Library is simplifying the way in which students borrow items, in response to feedback from users, including the Student Surveys.
We are delighted that the new Library Management System is allowing us to implement improvements to the library user experience including:
- You will now be able to borrow more items than before
This includes 20 items (4-week loan) plus 6 items (7 day loan) plus 2 items (24 hour loan). In addition you can borrow 20 items from the Curriculum Resource Collection.
- Your loans will be automatically renewed and you will only need to bring them back if someone else wants them
Your loans (except for 24-hour loan items) will be renewed automatically on a rolling basis. You will only need to bring them back if someone else reserves them.
24-hour loan items are not renewable and not reservable.
- There will be no more fines unless your loan has been requested by someone else or is a high demand 24 hour loan item
Fines will be only be applied to items which have been reserved by another user or to those 24 hour loan items which are returned late. Fine rates have not changed and remain at 20p per day (4-week loan), 50p per day (7-day loan), £1 per day (24-hour loan).
If a reserved item is not returned on time, there will be an immediate suspension on borrowing further items until the reserved item is returned. And if there is an unpaid charge exceeding £10 on your account, there will be an immediate suspension on borrowing further items until the charge is paid.
Please let us know what you think about these changes and any other suggestions you may have by emailing email@example.com as we are keen to continually improve your library experience.
