Now the academic year has started here are a few things you need to do to make sure you get off to a good start and a few things you might like to do to make the most out of your first Semester/Trimester:
For the low down on the regulations and policies – it might sound dull but understanding this early on will help you succeed while at CCCU.
2. Read your Programme and Module Handbook
Knowing what is expected of you and when, as well as where to go for support, will help you plan ahead, feel prepared and get the most out of your course.
3. Discover Your Library
Whether you are a new or returning student don’t leave it too long to make friends with the Library, get to know the range of resources it has available, and how to get the best out of LibrarySearch
4. Check out the SU Sports and Societies
You may have missed the Virtual Freshers’ Fayre but it is never to late to meet new people, follow your passion or discover a new interest – after all Uni is not just about studying!
5. Register with a GP
If you have moved away from home it is important that you register with a local GP just in case you ever fall ill while at Uni.
6. Know what support is available
You may not think you need any extra support at the moment and we hope that remains the case, but don’t ever be afraid to ask if you do. Whether you are seeking guidance on academic matters, looking for practical advice such as with finances, or need further support with mental health we have someone for you to talk to and a range of free online resources available.
7. Download the Safezone App
SafeZone is a safety app which allows you to alert University Security if you ever need urgent assistance, first aid or if you have an emergency while on campus via your mobile phone. So for that peace of mind it is great to know that at a press of button you can get help whenever you need it. The first 1,000 to register also get entered into a prize draw to win a Fire Tablet!
8. Register to Vote
It is an interesting time for politics in the UK at the moment and who knows when the next general election will be – so don’t miss out on having your say. Registering to vote could be your first step in influencing the future of your country.
9. Follow CCCanterburyUni Instagram
From stunning pictures of our campuses and locations to the latest instastories the CCCU Instagram account is a great way of keeping in touch with what is going on. You can also keep in the loop via the @CCCUStudents Facebook and @CCCUStudentsTwitter
