EU and Russia: Sanctions and Consequences<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the crisis in Crimea and ongoing unrest in Ukraine, EU responses included agreeing a number of economic sanctions to be imposed on Russia. Agreeing these sanctions at the EU level proved far from straight forward and the Russian response included a number of counter sanctions against the EU.<\/p>\n

How did the EU come to agreement on the sanctions? Are these sanctions having the desired effect? Are the sanctions imposed by Russia on the EU having an effect on the EU’s economy? What is the effect of sanctions on Russian oil companies and on its financial sector? What are the reactions from its political elites and international companies? What are the implications for Europe? Are the EU and Russia simply too big to be affected by such measures? What could be the political consequences of such measures on the EU and Russia in the international system, and on EU-Russian relations more broadly?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
