The PSA conference is the largest political studies event in the UK, with over 700 delegates from across the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>We were thrilled to see so many friendly faces from across the Politics HE universe and to share our research with our wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our presentations show what a diverse group of specialists we are!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7 Dr Dele Babalola and his PhD student Gabriel Oduh presented their paper, \u2018Comparative analysis of secessionist agitations in federations: A case of Biafra in Nigeria and Bougainville in Papua New Guinea (PNG)\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7 Professor David Bates presented on \u2018Marxism and Human Emancipation\u2019 and coordinated further Marxism Specialist Group panels in his role as co-convenor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7 Dr Susan Kenyon and Fran Gould presented a paper produced during Fran\u2019s student internship with us, called \u2018Understanding Barriers To Sustainable Travel: Exploring The Persistence Of The Car Culture Amongst Young People In The UK\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7 Jo Rothery discussed her PhD research, \u2018Politics of Place in England and the Rise of Resentment\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7 Dr Tom Sharkey presented his research, \u2018Alexander Herzen, the Russian Socialists and Max Stirner: Egoism, Ownness and Postanarchist Thought\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7 Dr Carolina Silveira presented her research, in a paper titled \u2018Kilted lads and Funny gags: Exploring Scottish Identity and Standup Comedy\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across the three days, we learnt so much from the other delegates, about a wide range of topics and we had tremendous fun. The conference represented Scottish hospitality at its best.
