We are sad to announce the death of our dear colleague Dr Simon Bransden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Simon joined our programme as an undergraduate in 2009. A brilliant student, Simon remained to write his PhD thesis on ‘The dynamics of federal political systems in times of crisis’, graduating in 2017. He worked with us as a sessional postdoctoral lecturer and researcher on several projects (REF, Education for Sustainable Development and as managing editor of ERIS) before moving to the University of Suffolk in 2019. After his move to Suffolk, Simon continued his important role with ERIS and he will be sorely missed by all those at the journal who worked with him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most importantly, Simon became a dear friend as well as colleague. He cared deeply about making university work for every student regardless of their individual circumstances. Simon often went above and beyond to support students who faced problems and he was fully on board with all the efforts of our team to improve the ways we supported students, in particular when it came to mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simon was also funny, generous and kind. Even after moving to Ipswich he stayed in touch and lent an ear when we needed it. His loss will be felt for a long time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
