{"id":739,"date":"2014-06-18T15:21:21","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T15:21:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canterburypolitics.wordpress.com\/?p=739"},"modified":"2018-09-18T13:25:06","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T12:25:06","slug":"politics-and-ir-senior-lecturer-trains-armenian-diplomatic-corps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/politics\/2014\/06\/18\/politics-and-ir-senior-lecturer-trains-armenian-diplomatic-corps\/","title":{"rendered":"Politics and IR Senior Lecturer Trains Armenian Diplomatic Corps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In May 2014, Senior Lecturer in Politics\/IR, <strong>Dr<\/strong> <strong>Amelia Hadfield<\/strong> undertook another round of external teaching on Foreign Policy Analysis on behalf of the College of Europe and the European Union in the framework of the project \u2018Support to capacity and institution building of the Diplomatic Academy in Armenia\u2019. <!--more-->This entailed five days of intensive teaching at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diplomaticacademy.am\/en\/\"><strong>Diplomacy School\u00a0of Armenia<\/strong><\/a> in Yerevan on a wide range of foreign policy, international relations and EU foreign affairs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/06\/armenia-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-743\" class=\" wp-image\" src=\"http:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/06\/armenia-1.jpg?w=650\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"551\" height=\"326\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Dr. Hadfield at the centre of attention in Armenia!)<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the huge enthusiasm of the students, and the chance to contribute to diplomatic capacity building, most memorable was the final simulation exercise. During this intense 1-hour summit, the students \u2013 working in groups representing all the states of the region, plus the EU, managed with great skill and tact, to \u2018negotiate\u2019 the restoration of full Turkish-Armenian diplomatic relations.
