Location: <strong>Old Sessions House \u2013 Michael Berry Lecture Theatre (Og46)<\/strong>.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/01\/people_natalie_bennett.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-320\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" src=\"http:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/01\/people_natalie_bennett.jpg?w=310\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Natalie Bennett Profile<\/strong> (via\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/greenparty.org.uk\/people\/natalie-bennett.html\">http:\/\/greenparty.org.uk\/people\/natalie-bennett.html<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Natalie Bennett was elected the leader of The Green Party of England\u00a0and Wales on September 3, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Sydney, Australia, she has lived in London since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>She started her career as a journalist in rural New South Wales and\u00a0has worked for the Bangkok Post, the Telegraph, the Independent, The\u00a0Times and, most recently, as editor of Guardian Weekly.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie obtained a degree in agricultural science from the University\u00a0of Sydney, making her the only political\u00a0leader in the country with a scientific background.<\/p>\n<p>She spent two years in Bangkok working with the National\u00a0Commission on Women\u2019s Affairs, on its report to the UN Committee on\u00a0the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women. She also worked as a\u00a0consultant with the International Labor Organisation (ILO) on child\u00a0labour issues and World Health Organization (WHO) on women\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p>A trustee of the Fawcett Society, Britain\u2019s pre-eminent women\u2019s issues\u00a0group, she was the founder of the blog Carnival of Feminists and is an\u00a0active campaign on women\u2019s issues.<\/p>\n<p>Within the party she\u2019s been an active worker on policy, on issues\u00a0ranging from the abolition of the Corporation of the City of London to\u00a0abortion rights, proportional liability on the roads to job-share MPs\u00a0and a 40% quota for women on major company boards, the treatment of\u00a0women offenders and the rights of asylum-seekers and sex workers.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie served as the internal communications coordinator for the\u00a0party from September 2007-2010 and was the founding chair of Green\u00a0Party Women.
