On the 23rd<\/sup> June, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union (EU). Britain’s vote to leave the EU added a new challenge to a long list of security concerns in Europe, from terrorism to a humanitarian crisis that has the Syrian civil war as its epicentre. Amidst all this, NATO has reinforced its operations in the Eastern flank and the EU adopted a new Global Strategy. This is the background for the conversation between Amelia Hadfield, Director of the Centre for European Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University and \u00c1lvaro de Vasconcelos, former director of the European Union Institute for Security Studies that will take place on the 19th<\/sup> January 2017 at 5.45pm<\/strong> (reception at 5.15pm) in the Michael Berry Lecture Theatre at Canterbury Christ Church University.<\/p>\n
