{"id":2234,"date":"2016-10-25T11:51:46","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T10:51:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canterburypolitics.wordpress.com\/?p=2234"},"modified":"2018-09-18T15:21:47","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T14:21:47","slug":"israelpalestine-a-never-ending-conflict-annual-eris-lecture-on-4-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/politics\/2016\/10\/25\/israelpalestine-a-never-ending-conflict-annual-eris-lecture-on-4-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel\/Palestine: A never ending conflict? &#8211; Annual ERIS lecture on 4 November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Canterbury Christ Church University\u2019s Politics and International Relations team has invited Professor Alain Dieckhoff to take this year\u2019s European Review of International Studies (ERIS) Lecture on 4 November at 6pm.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Professor Dieckhoff is the Director of Centre for International Studies and Research (CERI) at Sciences-Po and will discuss the evolution of the conflict and the development of Israeli and Jewish nationalism in the 19th and early 20th centuries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The lecture, entitled <em>&#8216;Israel\/Palestine: a never ending conflict?&#8217;,<\/em>\u00a0is based on his extensive research on modern Israel, nationalism and the Israeli-Palestinian relations. He will highlight the different dimensions of the conflict, the different perspectives of the parties involved, and the role of external actors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dr David Bates, Director of Politics and International Relations at Canterbury Christ Church University, said: \u201cWe are delighted to welcome one of France\u2019s leading academics to the University. Our programme of events does not shy away from discussing challenging issues, and there are few topics more challenging than the focus of Professor Dieckoff\u2019s talk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.budrich-journals.de\/index.php\/eris\/index\">European Review of International Studies (ERIS)<\/a> is an international journal, established in 2013, to promote an understanding of European contributions to the subject of International Relations.
