{"id":1666,"date":"2016-02-10T13:34:50","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T13:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canterburypolitics.wordpress.com\/?p=1666"},"modified":"2018-09-10T15:51:06","modified_gmt":"2018-09-10T14:51:06","slug":"activism-research-network-austerity-and-social-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/politics\/2016\/02\/10\/activism-research-network-austerity-and-social-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"Activism Research Network: Austerity and Social Justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canterbury Christ Church University&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canterbury.ac.uk\/social-and-applied-sciences\/psychology-politics-and-sociology\/politics-and-international-relations\/research-and-collaboration\/activism-research.aspx\">Activism Research Network<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalnet21.org\/\">GlobalNet21<\/a> hosted an event on Austerity and Social Justice in the Macmillan Room, House of Commons on January 28<sup>th<\/sup> 2016.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1671 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/02\/austerity.png\" alt=\"Austerity\" width=\"414\" height=\"203\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The speakers at the event were our very own Dr David Bates, Director of the Activism Research Network,\u00a0and Kate Osamor, Labour MP for Edmonton.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1673 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/02\/david_parl.png\" alt=\"David_Parl\" width=\"555\" height=\"452\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->There was an intervention from London Playback Theatre together with a skilled facilitator Simon Floodgate, who listened to the stories of people affected by austerity and poverty and then put those stories into dramatic form.
