With David Cameron recently announcing &#8216;we are going all out for shale gas&#8217;, fracking (or hydraulic fracturing) is likely to happen in large parts of the UK, including the South East. Though it has the potential to tap significant onshore fossil fuel reserves, this method of energy extraction is highly contentious.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/fracking-for-sociology.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1020\" src=\"https:\/\/canterburypolitics.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/fracking-for-sociology.jpg\" alt=\"Fracking for Sociology\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Its supporters say it can be safely regulated. Its detractors say it is harmful to the environment and human health. We bring together some of the top experts and campaigners on fracking in the country to debate this complex issue.
