{"id":1013,"date":"2014-10-27T14:20:08","date_gmt":"2014-10-27T14:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canterburypolitics.wordpress.com\/?p=1013"},"modified":"2018-09-18T12:05:44","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T11:05:44","slug":"parliamentary-outreach-organises-select-committee-simulation-with-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/politics\/2014\/10\/27\/parliamentary-outreach-organises-select-committee-simulation-with-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliamentary Outreach Organises Select Committee Simulation with Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 23 October, students in Dr Mark Bennister&#8217;s final year British politics class took part in a role play simulating a House if Commons select committee inquiry session investigating the swine flue epidemic. <!--more-->The session was facilitated by Naomi Saint (pictured above) from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CCAQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.parliament.uk%2Fget-involved%2Foutreach-and-training%2F&amp;ei=cFROVPC3G4zHggSk2YDIAw&amp;usg=AFQjCNFdKJxOSw9pB1qmsCztb5KuiIK14A&amp;sig2=C8cG62hDZIKTMdAT6VFJtA&amp;bvm=bv.77880786,d.eXY\">Parliamentary Outreach team<\/a>. Dr Bennister works closely with Outreach on a range of teaching and research projects. Students played the roles of MPs and witnesses and the session eloped the effectiveness of such witness sessions.
