He was the Deputy General Secretary of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Public_and_Commercial_Services_Union\">Public and Commercial Services Union<\/a> (PCS), one of Britain&#8217;s largest trade unions, until May 2013.
