{"id":470,"date":"2016-06-01T12:14:46","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T11:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/partnersinlearning\/?p=470"},"modified":"2017-03-24T14:22:43","modified_gmt":"2017-03-24T14:22:43","slug":"the-student-opportunities-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.canterbury.ac.uk\/partnersinlearning\/the-student-opportunities-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"The Student Opportunities Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>An evening of celebration and recognition for all the hardwork Partners in Learning students had been giving all year.<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As the drinks were flowing, the Partners in Learning Student Consultants eagerly awaited the evening to start.\u00a0PiL\u00a0had been nominated for Outstanding Organisation of the Year and the Student-Led Project of the Year for the Student Guide to Learning &amp; Teaching. One of our students, Georgia Horsley, was also nominated for her contribution to various projects within Partners in Learning, being the first student to be involved with two projects.<\/p>\n<p>The evening\u2019s events unfolded with students receiving certificates and applause for their contribution to volunteering and other extra-curricular achievements.\u00a0A sense of pride was felt amongst the students who seemed grateful for the recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Following the presentation of Christchurch Extra certificates and awards, it was time for the prizes, of which we were nominated for 3.<\/p>\n<p>In eager anticipation we listened, applauded, listened, applauded, listened&#8230;The Learning &amp; Teaching Strategy project did not win the Student-Led Project of the Year, this was awarded to\u00a0the Outreach Ambassadors who ran a school project to improve academic skills. \u00a0We had one more nomination\u2026<\/p>\n<p>With baited breath we awaited the announcement of\u00a0the winner of\u00a0Organisation of the Year. \u201cPartners in Learning!\u201d \u2013 and with that the whole table erupted with cheers and high fives, which was perhaps a little over zealous in an otherwise\u00a0quiet and composed audience. But we didn\u2019t care what we looked like!<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been proud of what we have achieved all along, but it was touching to find out that our efforts and the efforts of students working on other projects within the organisation were appreciated and recognised.<\/p>\n<p>Our prize was \u00a3200 which we are planning to use to celebrate and reward students past, present and future for their contribution to the organisation.
