The National Institute for Christian Education Research (NICER) carries out pedagogic research undertaken by focussing on the delivery of character education in all subject areas, the teaching of Religious Education (RE) in schools, spiritual flourishing and faith in education. NICER’s research has been a ‘foundation’ for a transformation in Church School education according to senior Church school leaders, becoming central to how the Church of England thinks about, delivers and evaluates education in its 4,700 schools (1.16 million pupils). NICER’s work is cited by Ofsted and commended by the Catholic Education Service of England and Wales.
The purpose of the role is to be a key specialist in the research team to lead the selection, development and deployment of psychological and statistical research methods in NICER research bids and projects across a range of projects and project bids in development, including impact measurement work. The post holder will work on existing statistical datasets from current projects related to teacher development, teacher education and development in science and religious education, and spiritual flourishing including undertaking further analysis of those datasets using suitable systems and software.
Ordinarily we would expect the post holder to have completed or being nearing completion of a doctorate in a relevant field with research, presentation and publication experience. You will report to project team leaders and the Director of the Research Centre.
