Oram Awards at OSCILLATE
On BBC Radio 3
Following a fantastic day-long Oscillate Festival at the Turner Contemporary in Margate last Saturday, at which students and staff of the School of Music and Performing Arts at Canterbury Christ Church University and representatives of the Turner, Performing Rights Society Foundation and BBC Radio 3 all played essential parts in this wonderful event.
Included in the festival was the inaugural Oram Awards, named after pioneering composer and musician Daphne Oram. The awards were set up by the New BBC Radiophonic Workshop and PRS Foundation to support women and girls in music through bursaries and mentoring. BBC Radio 3 were on hand to record snapshots of the ceremony in which eight winners were crowned at the Turner Contemporary. A report and reflection on the awards will be broadcast tonight on Late Junction with Verity Sharp at 11pm.
