The Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury will be showing a 6 metre installation piece from Coney Island. The image, catchily titled “Coney Island Boardwalk (between 6:44 and 7:05pm on the 17th July 2016)’ is a collage of photographs made on a walk from The Thunderbolt to the Cyclone. The exhibition runs from 28th July 2017-17th August 2017.

RESORT Studios were founded in Margate in 2013 by creative professionals looking for a space to work, collaborate and experiment together. The organisation’s dedication to both supporting their artist and designer members as well as working with the local community exemplifies the energy and ethos of Kent’s bourgeoning artistic scene. RESORT encompasses individual studios, shared facilities, workshop areas and exhibition space. They offer a high quality programme of events and aim to foster a vibrant and dynamic community of like-minded people. During “To be Beside”, RESORT artists and makers will take over Sidney Cooper Gallery with a showcase of their works.

Rob also has work on display at The Shop Front in Margate until 6 August 2017. Rob Ball is Deputy Director of SEAS Photography and Senior Lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University, UK. His projects have been published and exhibited worldwide including at The Photographers’ Gallery, London; Format Festival, Derby; Illinois State University, USA; and the Sidney Cooper Gallery, Canterbury. His work is in the permanent collections of University of the Arts and The National Portrait Gallery. His book, Coney Island is now available.
