Some large items might be too big to issue on the self-issue machine, in which case, take the items to the library point at Augustine House or Salomons library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using the self-service machines: borrowing and returning items at Augustine House<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Self-service borrowing and returning in Augustine House\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/50a21J1Rxj8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/50a21J1Rxj8?si=QohcLiTnn4e6n0f6\" title=\"\"><em>Self &#8211; service borrowing and returning in Augustine House CCCU Libraries 2025<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> At Medway, ask a member of staff at the Helpdesk near the library entrance to help you borrow items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I renew my items?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want everybody to have a positive experience using our libraries.&nbsp;So&nbsp;we make sure your items automatically renew for you. Items will be automatically renewed (in accordance with&nbsp;their loan period) on a rolling basis two days before they are due. However, if the items have been reserved by another&nbsp;user,&nbsp;they will not be automatically&nbsp;renewed,&nbsp;and the item will need to be returned by its due date. You will receive and e-mail if your loaned item has been reserved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>No library fines!<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not charge library fines on any CCCU items. If&nbsp;you\u2019re&nbsp;late returning an item, you simply&nbsp;won\u2019t&nbsp;be able to borrow anything new until you return it. There are still late charges for items borrowed from other Universities through the Document Delivery Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Document Delivery Service<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canterbury.ac.uk\/library-services\/borrowing\/document-delivery\" title=\"\">document delivery service<\/a> allows you to request items from other libraries if they aren\u2019t available through LibrarySearch. Please note there are limits on the number of document delivery requests you can make per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If the item is already on loan? How do I reserve an item?&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If all the copies of the item you want to borrow are out on loan,&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;worry you can easily reserve the item, so you are next in line to borrow it. To reserve an item, log in to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/libsearch.canterbury.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>LibrarySearch<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>and search for the item you need. Once you click on the title of the item, you can click on the \u201cplace reservation\u201d button to reserve it. Place a reservation on the item in the same way as you would above and\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0be notified by email when\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0ready for collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0reserve a copy of a book from another library if there is a copy available on the shelf at your home library.\u00a0If the library location is different from your home campus, you can place a reservation using the button.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don&#8217;t forget you will have to log into LibrarySearch on another device to process a reservation.
