Do you want to have a go at making a zine? Or has your research lead you to exploring any number of queer theories? If the answer to any of these questions is &#8216;yes!&#8217;, you might want to get involved in our Queering The Archive zine project &#8211; and this blog will explain how. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Queering The Archive will take place in two stages; the first will be exploring our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canterbury.ac.uk\/guides\/library\/library-guide-special-collections-a-z\" title=\"\"><strong>Archive and Special Collection<\/strong><\/a> for material that is of queer interest, the second will be creative responses to this material to make the collaborative zine itself in time for Canterbury Pride 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em><code>Initial Research<\/code><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first research phase will be an open ended exploration, using many \u2018queer\u2019 techniques; instinct, intuition, gossip, free association, <a href=\"https:\/\/ulms.ent.sirsidynix.net.uk\/client\/en_GB\/CCCU\/search\/detailnonmodal\/ent:$002f$002fSD_ILS$002f0$002fSD_ILS:1411986\/ada?qu=cruising+utopia&amp;if=el%09edsSelectFacet%09FT&amp;d=ent%3A%2F%2FSD_ILS%2F0%2FSD_ILS%3A1411986%7EILS%7E0&amp;ir=Both&amp;h=8\" title=\"\"><strong>queer futurity<\/strong><\/a>, personal resonance \u2013 in order to create selections from our archive, using any research techniques our volunteers may be working on. It will be an opportunity to share ideas while looking at material that is largely absent of queer content, in a space where we can form our own connections to the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to take part, please do join us on the following research session dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weds 13 March<\/strong> (12 \u2013 4pm)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Location: <a href=\"https:\/\/campusmaps.canterbury.ac.uk\/campusmaps\/46727c8597f94bb2a0372d83\/details\/71548025094d48ed80ee9665\">Bridge Seating Area<\/a> in Augustine House<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday 15 March<\/strong> (12-4pm)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Location: <a href=\"https:\/\/campusmaps.canterbury.ac.uk\/campusmaps\/46727c8597f94bb2a0372d83\/details\/a77b42e738104de4846c8d64\">AH1.21<\/a> in Augustine House<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weds 24 April<\/strong> (12 \u2013 4pm)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Location: <a href=\"https:\/\/campusmaps.canterbury.ac.uk\/campusmaps\/46727c8597f94bb2a0372d83\/details\/a77b42e738104de4846c8d64\">AH1.21<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You won\u2019t need to bring anything with you, though if you have any ideas, theories or research methods that you are particularly interested in, the session will include time to talk about how to go about finding \u2018queer\u2019 material and what this will mean for the zine. One starting point could be The National Archive\u2019s Guide to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/help-with-your-research\/research-guides\/gay-lesbian-history\/\"><strong>Searching for records of sexuality and gender identity history<\/strong><\/a>, or Jeanne Scheper&#8217;s essay <a href=\"https:\/\/ulms.ent.sirsidynix.net.uk\/client\/en_GB\/CCCU\/search\/detailnonmodal\/eds:$002f$002f2131271864$002f0$002fedsjsr$007c$007cedsjsr.48728371\/ada\/5e548866-fa96-4eee-9b5f-942014120af2.kbgmqBoHKk9zRxT1KedRow$003d$003d?qu=zine+pedagogy&amp;if=el%09edsSelectFacet%09FT&amp;d=eds%3A%2F%2F2131271864%2F0%2Fedsjsr%7C%7Cedsjsr.48728371%7E2131271864%7E0&amp;ir=Both&amp;h=8\" title=\"\"><strong>Zine Pedagogies : Students as Critical Makers<\/strong><\/a>. Feel free to bring any zine making tricks and techniques with you to share with the group!
