Maybe you’ll need to familiarise yourself with a new software or simply brush up your skills with an old one. Our guide below uses PowerPoint and Word.

When you’ve thought about the how, you might like to think about the what. What is your topic and what is the purpose of your poster -is it to present an argument, report findings, convince an audience or promote a product? And how can you display this information to have the maximum impact? Who is your audience – will it be your tutor, experts, the general public, or your peers? And what will they be looking for – detailed information, argument or simply a brief summary?

Finally, you might like to read up on poster design using this fantastic e-book from Library Search.

Bethell, E.
